The history of Centella Asiatica

Although you may have just heard of this plant in the recent years, Centella Asiatica’s history dates back thousands of years ago as a medicinal plant due to its antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties. Known as Cica, Gotu Kola, Indian pennywort or Pegaga, this plant is regarded as a skin soothing and hydrating elixir for sensitive, irritated, dry skin.

Thanks to its active compounds such as asiaticoside, madecasosside, and other components such as flavonoids, amino acids and vitamins, it is well known for its wound healing properties.
